![]() ![]() Your memory is incredible, with this placement being one of the best for it. You dwell on your thoughts for a while, and it can seem like it takes you a long time to make decisions even if it doesn’t. Many of you may keep your thoughts and ideas to yourself, worried about what people will think and not wanting to be subjected to criticism. With your natal Mercury in Cancer, your communications are often colored by your personal experience, which can make it hard for you to be objective. You can be charming, humorous, and decisive. Your communications can lack a personal touch because you tend to keep your emotions out of it, but that can make it hard for people to connect with what you say. If you can’t see it with your own eyes, you won’t believe it. You’re analytical and tend to favor logic over everything else, and have a hard time listening to your gut. You can absorb lots of new information quickly, but you tend to know a little about a lot instead of being an expert with anything. This can lead to bouts with anxiety and nervous energy. You need constant variety and need to keep your mind busy, otherwise you get restless and bored. With your natal Mercury in Gemini, you have a quick mind, but it can be difficult to concentrate on anything for very long. You may be good with speaking and writing. You can have good taste, and an eye and ear for artistic talent. You’re practical about matters, use your senses to help take in information, and learn best when you see how things work in your own life. You don’t speak up too much, so your words have more weight to them. It takes time for you to begin new tasks and projects, but you stick to it once you do, though you can take longer to finish them. When you study something, you take your time, and while others may think you’re too slow, once you absorb information, you don’t forget it. With your natal Mercury in Taurus, you take a slow, steady approach to matters. You don’t wait around for other people to make decisions for you, and make them for yourself rather quickly, which can get you in trouble sometimes. This could’ve been a problem in school, where you didn’t get something right away so you’d give up on it, and you may have come across as less intelligent than you actually were. You love to begin new projects, but you can jump from one to the next quickly, always finding something else that catches your interest. You can come up with ideas that you’re enthusiastic about, but generally don’t dwell on the details. You get right to the point, and some people appreciate that, while others find you too aggressive. With your natal Mercury in Aries, you don’t beat around the bush. If your natal Mercury and Sun are in different signs, you may communicate in a way that’s different from who you really are. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, built the rover and manages the project for NASA's Science Mission Directorate in Washington.Note: If your natal Mercury is in the same sign as your natal Sun, you communicate in a way that’s reflective of who you really are. NASA's Mars Science Laboratory Project is using Curiosity to assess ancient habitable environments and major changes in Martian environmental conditions. The next of each type visible from Mars will be Mercury in April 2015, Venus in August 2030 and Earth in November 2084. Mercury and Venus transits are visible more often from Mars than from Earth, and Mars also offers a vantage point for seeing Earth transits. The next Mercury transit visible from Earth will be May 9, 2016. Many viewers on Earth observed a Venus transit in June 2012, the last visible from Earth this century. The Mast Camera on NASA's Curiosity Mars rover recorded the event. Mercury passed in front of the sun on June 3, 2014, as viewed from Mars. The sunspots move only at the pace of the sun's rotation, much slower than the movement of Mercury. In addition to showing the Mercury transit, the same Mastcam frames show two sunspots approximately the size of Earth. The observations were made on June 3, 2014, from Curiosity's position inside Gale Crater on Mars. "Observations of Venus transits were used to measure the size of the solar system, and Mercury transits were used to measure the size of the sun." "This is a nod to the relevance of planetary transits to the history of astronomy on Earth," said Mark Lemmon of Texas A&M University, College Station, a member of the Mastcan science team. Mercury fills only about one-sixth of one pixel as seen from such great distance, so the darkening does not have a distinct shape, but its position follows Mercury's expected path based on orbital calculations. This is the first transit of the sun by a planet observed from any planet other than Earth, and also the first imaging of Mercury from Mars. ![]()
